We went to our ward campout this year. As always, it was a lot of fun (when is camping not a lot of fun?). We went up early with the Taylors to get our tents set up and then put the boys to work starting dinner for everyone. And we had the signs to put up showing everyone where to go. It worked out great because our kids played together while we set up tents and we didn't have to watch them as close. All of a sudden we heard screaming and thought it was one of their girls. Then we heard Tyler call for Jared and knew it was one of ours. Crue had been trying to hit some wasps and one didn't like that (imagine that) and decided to stink his little hand. The camp host had been over talking to us and making sure we were with the group when it happened so he ran and got some stuff to put on it. Turns out there was a nest in the ground where the kids had been playing so he sprayed at them and then had Jared cover them up with dirt.
First (and luckily only) battle wound of the trip. Lesson learned: don't mess with wasps (or bees).
Breakfast time!
Big bite!
Gotta love tree swings.
It's fun to watch Crue now that he's getting bigger and can play with the bigger kids. I think they were playing red rover here.
Cute boy.
While we were packing our tent and hanging out for a minute before leaving. Rachael (and Tyson) were more than willing to hold Aly for us.
Tyson getting a picture of the boys. It's really fun that they are close in age and play so well together (most of the time).
I have such cute boys! I love his eyes.
Grady enjoying the dirt (he's pretty dang cute too).
Cooper having more fun. (Look at those clean hands to prove it!)
I love this picture of Grady and Cooper enjoying their rice krispie treats.
Can't forget the girls! I loved Alyson's clothes. My sister got us the cute pink camo pants and I was excited to use them. And of course the shirt fits her. She gets LOTS of kisses all day from all of us. You can't help but want to kiss those big cheeks! :)
It was a pretty fun campout. Jared was glad for the help cleaning dutch ovens after dinner. We had bought some liners (he did the chicken) so they wouldn't be as bad to clean and we had forgotten about them until he had already put the chicken in the dutch ovens. Oh well. The kids did really well sleeping. The next morning I was talking to my friend Mindy and she asked if that was our baby crying in the night. (Nope - she slept all night.) Someone else thought it was us too. In the middle of the night, probably around 2 or 2:30 am, someone decided to set up camp across the road from us and was not being quiet about it at all. They were just throwing stuff in to the back of the truck (which didn't have a liner) and basically not caring about others around them. We thought it was a couple in the ward that was supposed to come around that time. Mindy thought it was us leaving in the middle of the night (she had heard them drive around the loop a couple of times as well as trying to set up camp). Seriously? Do we usually cause that many problems? Just kidding! I laughed that she thought it was our baby and us making all that noise in the night. Turned out to be a couple of guys that weren't part of our group. If I had known, I would have gone over there when they were setting up and told them it was a group area and that they were supposed to camp in the individual sites. And ask them to be quiet so they didn't wake anyone else up.
